On a very dark and clear night in September 2020, I tried to create/capture some visions I envisioned of the the Milky Way arching above the beautiful Antiochia Lutheran Church (Ramsey County, ND). I also experimented with some low-level lighting techniques whereby I placed my lit-Iphone and another small flashlight inside the building (during long exposures) to "bring it back to life".. This image features the summer milky way behind a vertical format shot of the front entrance area (lit by an iphone set on floor within foyer). Basement windows were lit by a flashlight placed in basement kitchen. It was plenty spooky going down there at this time of night... This is an alternate image with the antiochia cemetery sign removed - in version #2 you can see the Antiochia entrance gate.

Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom.
