Asteroidea Polypodiophyta - Starfish Fern creation

Just for fun, I captured a macro image of a wet fern frond in infrared spectrum (>720nm) and the applied 5 mirror/rotate operations to transform it into this new species of "starfish". Image was captured with an IR-modified Pentax K3 and Pentax DFA100mm lens. Additional lighting was provided by a multi-LED IR source bulb. The resulting file is very high resolution and this could look good printed at large scale.

Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota, where his love for photography first took root during high school. After acquiring a Pentax SLR, he began capturing moments for the school yearbook and developing black-and-white images in the school darkroom. Throughout college, Peter continued honing his craft by taking portraits, group photos, and wedding pictures. After starting his 32 year engineering career at Cummins, Peter’s photography interests went dormant until 2005, when he purchased his first DSLR.
