Awaiting Warmer Breezes - a lonely windmill in front of glorious sunset with geese in flight metal print by Peter Herman. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. "Awaiting Warmer Breezes"I keep an eye on places that I have marked on my map (like this one) for advantageous sunset/sunrise alignments, which in this case, occurs near winter solstice (putting sunset behind the windmill from an available vantage point on road). I ventured out on this evening (1/23/22) on the chance that the sunset might be colorful, and was not disappointed! The flock of geese flying off into the distance behind windmill, almost as if emanating from it, was total icing on the cake, and this was the only image of dozens that had them in it. Image captured with Pentax K-1 using Rokinon 135mm f2 lens (one of my very sharpest pieces of glass - I call it my "optical scalpel").
About Peter Herman

Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...
