Artist's Description
I captured this image on the beautiful foggy, misty morning of 9/29/19, and from the outside, it seemed like a "Lord of the Rings" setting to me - please see the external shot also, if you're interested in this image - (Just search for "chapel"). Many weddings are held here. The Boynton Chapel is a small wooden chapel built in a late 12th-century Norwegian stave church (Stavkirke) style. Handcrafted by Winifred and Donald Boynton between 1939 and 1947 on the grounds of their summer residence, the chapel is modeled after the Garmo stave church at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway. A popular site for weddings and a favorite stop among Door County tourists, the chapel contains 41 hand-painted frescoes and numerous exceptionally fine carved-wood furnishings. See https://www.lawrence.edu/s/bjorklunden/chapel for more information!

He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...
