Artist's Description

"Capitol Lunacy"
My sun/moon/alignment planning software app showed me that I should get out to Picnic Point (a long peninsula jutting way out into Lake Mendota, north of the capitol) two nights ago for a nice full-moon/dome near-alignment. Clouds prevented the "perfect" moment from being imaged, but I rather liked this shot anyway. Moments later, the moon slide behind a cloud bank. Several other local photographers were there with the same idea, and we had a great time sharing stories and cursing clouds. I got EATEN ALIVE on the mile walk back to car - I was one big bug bite. (and not just mosquitos- chiggers, apparently).

7/16/19 with Pentax K-1 with DA*300mm lens (cropped) using pixelshift multi-shot hi-resolution mode, f8, ISO100, 0.7 sec. Motion correction via RAWTherapee program.

About Peter Herman

Peter Herman

Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...
