Description
There are only a couple public vantage points on the shore of Lake Monona offering a view of the capital where the sun can be caught in alignment with the dome/statue on top (zoom in!). Wyldhaven park is one of them, and on ~May 10'th (and a day on each side) is when the sun slides behind the statue mounted atop dome. Another alignment occurs around Aug 1 as the sun slides south again in its annual oscillation. An ipad app I used, called "TP Ephemeris", allows alignments like this to be planned with precision based upon elevation, object height, vantage point, etc..
