Description
"Fall"
I've wanted to photographically capture leaves "in the act of falling" for quite a while, and saw a chance a few mornings ago, after a heavy frost. I noticed a birch at my mom's house where the background was still in shade, but leaves were steadily/slowly falling, and well-lit by rising sun, so I set up tripod and took a longggg exposure (45 seconds) using a special dark filter. Result was NOTHING - the falling leaves just "disappeared" into the murky blur. I was very disappointed. So immediate next attempt was to take 25 shortish (1/15 second) sequential exposures, capturing (hopefully) maybe one or two falling leaves in each frame and then combine them all together, resulting in the image shown here. I'll give this another try sometime with a bit longer exposures to give even more falling-blur, but this was "close" to what I had in mind.
Image captured 10/7/22.
