Description
"Last Clothes Dried, Final Holes Dug"
This clothesline at the Stensby homestead dried untold thousands of loads of laundry, and is perfectly ready to go back into service for another thousand. It was built in the "farmer tradition" of "when in doubt, build it stout, out of things you know about". The posthole digger leaning against the pole was found buried in the grass beneath the lines. Most likely, Maynard used it to dig these very same holes for the clothesline posts. Not sure why it ended up there, but it sure did make a nice coincidence. The dramatic cirrus clouds are what drew me out to shoot on this day, as explained in yesterdays seven-year time-lapse post shot from the chicken coop window. Check my timeline if you missed that one!
