Artist's Description
"Like a Bridge Over Untroubled Waters"
We received about 8" of fresh fluff during the PM so I went exploring with my camera in a state wildlife area near Stoughton, the next day. A spring-fed trout creek runs through it, so the water stays ice-free longer than normal. I'll post another image tomorrow, but this was my favorite from the outing. The heavy snow absorbs sound so it was absolutely silent aside from the babbling creek and the many birds coming to get a drink - I even saw a robin - seems like they should've flown south long ago. There were only a few animal tracks and I almost felt bad leaving my size 13 tracks through the perfection! I scouted this "log bridge" location a few weeks earlier, and planned then to come back in the right conditions - fresh snow and late PM sun in location where the creek "points" towards. My dog, Murphy, was loving every minute of this outing - I'll post a pic or two of him as a comment to this post that I snapped with iPhone.

About Peter Herman
Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...
