Product Details

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

"Lunar Power"

This old windmill on the abandoned Knutson farmhouse near Brinsmade (Benson County ND) is still turning (but not pumping) after at least 5 decades of abandonment. It was a bit eerie being out there at night during this full moon as it squeaks and squawks on each turn. Zoom in (use full scale preview feature) to view the bullet holes accumulated over the decades through the tail fin!

Tech stuff- The turning windmill actually gave me a photographic predicament - inability to get moon and windmill in sharp focus. Normally, I could use small lens aperture to get adequate depth of focus, but that comes with long shutter speed and windmill blades would have been a complete blur. Another way I often accomplish this is "depth focus stack", combining two or more images at different focus positions, but in this case BOTH the moon and windmill are moving, so composite ends up as a mismatched mess. Peter Herman

Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...
