Description
"Moonlit Mystery"
Smoke from slough-burning was thick in the air a few weeks ago in ND, as farmers burned the cattails of once-wet areas hoping to be able to get in and seed them in spring. One night, the smoke "settled" and rolled along the ground like a thick fog, seen in the distance on this image which was was captured by moonlight (bright light in sky is moon, not sun). Above and left of the moon you can see the Pleiades star cluster (also known as "The Seven Sisters"). I took this on a tripod, stretched as tall as possible in back of pickup truck. The trees to right are among the myriad planted by my dad. Shutter was open 15 seconds, so I had to stand super still and hold my breath or the truck would have wiggled!
Captured 10/25/18 with Pentax K-1 and DFA20-105 at F5.6, ISO100, 15 sec.
