Description
This beautiful and historic Lutheran Church stands proudly on the ND prairie about 7 miles north of my hometown of Leeds. It was founded in 1897, and met in school houses and homes until the building was built in 1916, and is still in weekly operation. Beautiful places like this, founded in the challenging climate and wide-open spaces of ND are testaments to the strong character of the early pioneers who built them, as well as the individuals who keep them alive still today. Tomorrow I will post a series from another church nearby (Hurricane Lake) that did not fare so well as this one, and was abandoned in 70's due to rural depopulation trend, which still continues. A vertical-format image is also available.
