Artist's Description
Theodore Roosevelt NP - North Unit - Oxbow OverlookThis is the "end of the road" in the North Unit of TRNP - the "Oxbow Overlook". The oxbow in the Little Missouri river (to the left of this view) doesn't show in this view, looking straight south, though. Lens focal length that I used (48mm) makes this photo just about "as you'd see it", perspective-wise.. Side story- my kids and several nieces/nephews were exploring the area below cliff while I was shooting, and they came running up the trail, frantically, being chased by a buffalo (or more like "followed" by a buffalo, but in their minds..). It was pretty funny. There are hundreds of "wild" buffalo roaming the national park...Taken near sunset on 8/6/19, Pentax K-1, DFA28-105mm lens at 48mm.
About Peter Herman
Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...

I have several canvas and print pictures in my home, and they always evoke comments. One of the things I love about Peter's photograph is that you can always find a picture that you relate to, be it location or content. In this age of "fake", I love the realism his art represents and am thankful for his ability to document places and time.
