Description
"Proof of Prairie Spring" - pasque flower prairie crocus bloom in native ND prairie
Even though some snow still remains in the low areas, I went searching on the native prairie hilltops above the coulee yesterday, and found these prairie crocuses (pasque flowers) poking from still-cold earth. Amazing flowers, so incredibly adapted for survival in their harsh world. Spring has sprung (albeit a few weeks late)! I likely shot this very same plant a few years ago- search "crocus" on my gallery to see them all - especially if you're looking for a normal 1.5:1 aspect ratio crop vs. this square one (I have a similar shot in normal ratio, taken a couple years earlier).
Image captured in Benson County near Brinsmade, ND on 4/28/23 with Pentax K-1 and 50mm (macro) lens, so background perspective is “normal/realistic” as viewed, although lens is only a few inches from the flower so it appear larger than “normal
