Artist's Description
"Stoughton Clocktower Sunrest"
I was at the Rotary park checking out the weekly gazebo music event and I noticed that the sun was very dim in the grey sky due to the large amount of smoke (and maybe also humidity) in the air, and that it could be "aligned" with the iconic clock tower with some careful camera positioning. You could look straight at it without any eye pain! I raced back home on my little Honda Grom (125cc motorcycle - I love that thing) to fetch a longer 200mm lens (I was only carrying a 28-105mm zoom) and got back just in the nick of time (at 6:48 PM according to clock!) to capture this scene, where the sun appears to be "taking a rest" in the perfectly-sized little niche of the clock tower roofline.
Image captured 7/29/21 with Pentax K-1 and DA*200mm lens.
About Peter Herman
Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...
