Description
"Stoughton Tornado Tree in Infrared"
This is the beloved Stoughton "Tornado Tree" on its grassy knoll adjacent a corn field on north side of town. This oak tree is a survivor of the major tornado in 2005 that tore through the northern side of town. It practically shredded this tree, ripping all its major limbs off, but now, 17 years later, it is recovering nicely, sending new growth out of every possible spot! The image is captured in the invisible (to our eye) infrared spectrum, so the tree "glows" in reflected afternoon sunlight (leaves reflect the infrared color spectrum above about 700 nm wavelength, which the camera is seeing with dark filter). I have several other shots of this subject - just search "Tornado" on my gallery
Image captured 8/20/21.
