Description
"The World Spins Madly On" - star trails behind the Stoughton (WI) tornado tree
This the locally-famous Stoughton "Tornado Tree" - survivor of the major tornado in 2005 that tore through the northern side of town. It practically shredded this mighty oak tree, ripping all its major limbs off, but now, about 17 years later, it is thriving and sending out thousands of new branches from its very stout trunk! I have photographed this tree over a period of about 5 years of the tree in various seasons, times of day, angles - search "tornado tree" on my gallery to see a selection. This image is a long exposure, resulting in star trails from their (our) motion - exposure was ~30 minutes. Motion of clouds, underlit by light pollution from Stoughton, made some interesting pinkish streaks. It was windy, so there are some "jiggles" in the star trails.
Image captured Feb 17, 2017 with Pentax K-1 and Rokinon 14mm lens.
