Artist's Description

You never know what you'll find if you keep your eyes peeled on a nature walk- in fact you might see eyes looking back at you. I saw an eye-shaped "knot" on a mossy fallen tree limb while walking in a forested area near Stoughton, WI, and knew immediately what I'd do with it (mirrored it and added in my own iris to complete the illusion). Zoom in to inspect the incredible moss and algae detail lurking deep in this image! Another image, taken before a frost has greener tones- I have posted it by same title as #2, if that color palette is preferable.

Taken 1/12/19 with Pentax K-1 and DFA100mm macro lens - this image is very high resolution - I shot it using "pixelshift" mode of Pentax (multiple frames per image) and then mirrored so >70 MegaPixel - it would look fantastic on metal or acrylic printed potentially very large.

About Peter Herman

Peter Herman

Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...
