Description
"Boynton Chapel Dreamscape in Infrared"
This is the gorgeous Boynton Chapel in Door County, WI, captured this weekend in the infrared spectrum which accentuates (to me) the dreamy, ethereal, almost magical middle-earth feel of the place. It is a small wooden chapel built in a late 12th-century Norwegian stave church (Stavkirke) style. Handcrafted by Winifred and Donald Boynton between 1939 and 1947 on the grounds of their summer residence, the chapel is modeled after the Garmo stave church at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway. This is understandably a very popular site for weddings. The chapel contains 41 hand-painted frescoes and numerous exceptionally fine carved-wood furnishings. I also captured this scene on the foggy, misty fall morning of 9/29/19 which image can be found on my gallery website by searching "chapel".
Image captured 8/28/21 with 720nm IR filter.
