Note - there is a similar shot of MALE facing right (also square format) which would make an ideal mating image to pair this with (like on pillows, for instance).
This was shot THROUGH the double pane of my sliding glass door with 600mm lens (throughglass because they'd fly whenever I tried opening it). The cardinals were partaking in some fish skin that I tossed after grilling and it stuck accidentally on a tree branch! I was shooting at angle which put snow/ground behind them, which really isolated them nicely, I thought.
