Artist's Description
"Final Destination"
This old 1954 Buick Special has found its final resting place in ~1970 (plate) at an abandoned farmsite in Benson County. This image is one of three of same subject (search for same title). The odometer stated 36964, but I'm guessing that is missing the 100,000 that got it there...
On this particular shoot, I mistakenly had my camera settings in "JPEG" mode (instead of "RAW"), so had trouble lifting the dark shadow detail in post processing. The result (especially in the first shot- my favorite) was rather "grainy" -almost film-like, and I greatly liked the accidental result!
I also liked the John Deere toy tractor wheel sitting on the front seat - I had one of those, growing up, and pedaled it everywhere - even drove it in to a nearby town to our farm (a mile away on gravel) when I was about 10.
Images captured 5/8/21.
About Peter Herman
Peter Herman was born and raised on a farm in North Dakota. He first became interested in photography during high-school, and after acquiring a Pentax SLR, began taking photos for the school yearbook and developing/printing B&W images in school darkroom. He continued shooting through college, taking portraits, group pictures, weddings, but after beginning his engineering career at Cummins, he let his photography interests go dormant until about 2005 when he acquired his first DSLR and started shooting scenic landscapes from around the US, but concentrating especially on rural areas in ND and WI. Many of his images were encountered while riding motorcycle down random backroads during "golden hour", searching for that magic light...

Great image. I love the textures in abandoned, rusted vehicles.
