I was so excited when I got home and started processing a recent batch of shots and found this one with a Great Horned Owl that perfectly photo-bombed this full-moon scene for me! I was driving home from shooting and it was already quite dark when I passed by one of my favorite subjects (this barn and oak) so I pulled over, and FROM CAR, shot this image, HANDHELD at 1/30'th second with 300mm lens (that is 10X longer shutter speed than recommended, but Pentax image stabilization is amazing). Lo and behold, there was an owl posed on the peak of roof watching me (or the moon?). The moon is exactly where it was in the image, but I shot a second image focused and exposed for moon itself (otherwise it would just be big white blown-out blob.
Image captured 9/23/18 with Pentax K-1 and Pentax DA*300mm lens at ISO1600, 1/30'th, f4.
