Description
"Prairie Perspectives"
The wide-open, fertile farmland of ND, crisscrossed and bisected by prairie roads and trails on almost every mile section line creates endless photo possibilities including wide-field panoramas that seem to stretch to infinity. Here's an example, taken from atop a hill just NW of Brinsmade, near where I grew up and even closer yet to where a bunch of my cousins grew up. I stood up on top of the rear-rack of the ATV I was driving to get a higher viewpoint for first shot, which was taken with an ultrawide lens, and the shot takes in about 120 degrees field of view, horizontally. The four-wheeler makes quite a shaky photography platform, but fine for fast daytime shutter speeds with wide-angle lenses (plus image stabilization)! The storm clouds on the horizon were approaching fast, and I played cat and mouse with them for the next half-hour, as they veered to the south. I didn't have my camera bag, so was a a little nervous, but my Pentax gear is pretty well water-sealed (I'd sooner not test, though!).
Images captured 8/6/19.
